This automated system monitors and records repeater activity. It consists of a Baofeng AR-5RM tuned to the Livermore/Altamont GMRS repeater's output frequency and CTCSS tone connected to a Raspberry Pi4 running RaspbianOS and a little usb audiocard. The rest is taken care of by some custom linux services, 2 cronjobs and a single page of PHP code that Gemini helped me write. :)
The system processes new recordings every 60 seconds. For long recordings like the weekly NETs, the recordings won't appear on this site until up to 60 seconds after the recording ends. Recordings are automatically ended after 10 seconds of silence.
The system will automatically drop recordings shorter than 4.0s as about 1/3rd of generated audio files are just the repeater's CW ID tones w/out anybody speaking. This should reduce some of the 'clutter' one needs to sift through.
If you don't see your recording immediately, give it a minute and refresh the page.
Recordings are automatically purged after 48 hours to keep resource usage low, but mainly to prevent creating a 'permanent archive' of repeater traffic as that's not the intention here. Once the recordings are purged, I have no way of retrieving them.
The timestamps in the recording names are based on the end of the recording (when the .mp3 file is created) because that way is easier at 2am in the morning when you're hacking things together in your homelab.
